The Nepali Flat

by Gordon Alexander

Join Gordon Alexander in Nepal as he drags his ‘heavy arse’ over the Himalayas in this hilarious, adventure-soaked account of the Three Passes Trek, culminating in a visit to Everest Base Camp. The Nepali Flat, littered with Aussie slang (and explanations) and topped off with a dry sense of humour, is your ideal travel companion, or if you’re just looking for a bloody good yarn.

Together with guide Subash and porter Nima, Gordon tackles high passes in excess of 5400 metres (17700ft) and explains how high altitude affects a mildly-overweight road builder from sea level in the tropics. Each part of the journey brings new challenges including sub-freezing temperatures, almost falling into a crevasse, and alarmingly warm beer. Along the way he discovers the local Kukri Rum, ...

Spirit Baby: Travels Through China on the Long Road to Motherhood

by Nina Little

“There’s an ancient Chinese belief that women possess two hearts; an upper heart associated with the standard Western heart, and a lower heart tied to the uterus. They say that women hold dreams of infants, lost children, and babies never-meant-to-be in their upper hearts, while babies destined to be born travel to their mother’s lower heart.“With my lower heart as empty as ever, and my upper heart full of lost babies and broken dreams, my husband and I planned an escape to China.”When Americans Nina and Chris Little step off the plane onto Chinese soil, they are a couple in crisis. Fleeing the heartbreak of yet another miscarriage, the anguish of failed fertility treatments, and the silence of their childless home, they arrive in Beijing just in time for the spring sand storms.D...

With my new Nikon D810 I embarked on a five week tour around South Korea and Japan. This book contains over fifty photographs, with commentary, from the Japan leg of the trip.
After joining the New Years Day Festival, from Busan we caught the Ferry to Fukuoka in Japan. Using our 14 day JR train pass, we first ventured south to Nagasaki, then toured north, visiting places such as Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto, Gifu and Hiroshima before reaching our final destination, Tokyo.
Most pictures were taken with Nikon 20mm f/1.8 and Sigma 35mm f/1.4
