The Oshadangwa Murders

by Damian O'Connor

This is a novel set in 1980 when the South African Defence Forces were engaged in a secret bush war in Angola and Namibia. Joshua Smith, an over-promoted police sergeant with an anti-Apartheid activist for a mother, is sent to investigate the battlefield murder of a wealthy white officer. There are three suspects, all unlikely, no forensic evidence, no witnesses and, as he is fully aware, no rule of law. Sucked into an investigation which has its roots in the politics of Apartheid at a point in time when Nelson Mandela was just emerging from obscurity, Smith is joined by an officer from Military Intelligence, Trudi Mostert. Together they dig into a mystery that goes all the way back to Smith's childhood in the multi-racial District 6 of Cape Town, the vicious realities of small town apartheid in Krugersburg and Smith’s own complicity in the state of Apartheid.

The Great French War Book I of “The French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars”

by Kevin Valladares

The French Revolutionary Wars are transpiring after the French Revolution changed the status quo of the great European dynastic powers. The Great French War begins during the Italian campaign in which General Bonaparte, an abled and keen general and strategist of mobile war begins having great success against the Hapsburg Austrians and their Italian allies. General Bonaparte becomes a hero of the Republic, conquering Italy for the First French Republic. In this great historical epic, there are two young officers who fight the wars of the First French Republic and then the First French Empire, they are Pascale and Frederick who are part of the French army that conquers Italy and then followed General Bonaparte to Egypt where they helped French savants and engineers to find the lost tomb of Ozymandias in the Theban mortuary temple. After General Bonaparte´s return from Egypt to France, in Brumaire 1799 with the conniving constitutional expert Sieyes help, Bonaparte becomes First Consul of the French Republic and then Emperor Napoleon in December, 1804. Back in Europe, with the peace of Amiens, Frederick and Pascale find domestic idyllic halcyon until the peace breaks when England once again makes war preparations in March of 1803. Now Frederick and Pascale must fight again for France in the Napoleonic Wars, and they would find great success forming part of the Grande Armee and with great victories like Austerlitz that would help Napoleon and France become a military juggernaut and the first European empire and military European land super power since the fall of the Roman Empire.

The GIFT: NEW RELEASE : a dog's way home

by Valerii Titov

The story is a fiction about a dog named Shon (named after my own dog), an American Stafford who finds love and happiness with his owner and friend Jerry. But, that love and happiness is replaced with war and pain for both the boy and the owner after Jerry is sent to study in the United States, leaving Shon behind. They are both plagued by the loss of each other till that feeling of love drives them to find each other again on the battlefield in Afghanistan.Shon finds Jerry but not in the best of conditions. Together, they both make their way out of a hospital recently taken over by the Taliban with their enemies hot at their heels. This story shows the bond between a man and his dog. It is an exciting and thrilling read for dog lovers, war story lovers, and lovers of action story novels.“Thank you very much Dad! Thank you so much, Mum!!” I screamed when my father and my mother finally presented me with the promised dog for which I had waited so long already. I was full of joy and I could not contain my excitement. I could not help crying while laughing as I became full of excitement and gratitude. If the way I screamed my gratitude to my parents did not do a good job of showing how much I valued the living gift that was just given to me, then, the way I hugged the little puppy, almost squeezing the life out of the little American Stafford breed definitely showed how much I loved and valued the puppy.""BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS, FOR THEY SHALL BE CALLED SONS OF GOD " MATTHEW 5.9or so the movie version would go..“You are lucky to survive, sir. It’s a miracle you survived that long. Somehow, the explosion did not do any real harm to you. It was the shrapnel, your fall and the debris that did you all this damage” the doctor said to me and I was grateful that nothing major had happened to me.But there was a problem. They were talking about cutting Shon’s paw off. I was not going to allow that. The paw was hanging and they said he would need a lot of care if the paw would not be infected. Since the hospital was not a veterinary center, they could not admit him in and start taking care of him. They had only taken care of him because a soldier who was named Jeffery insisted that the dog deserved it. They were basically saying that they could not admit him in and that the only other options would be to cut his paw off, or for me to take care of the dog on my own. I insisted that I would take care of Shon myself and told them that there would be no cutting of anything." dog, war, action, friendship, short story, best friend, genre fiction, military, family life, family story, a movie version, breeds, an American staffordshier, bravery, self-sacrifice, braveheart, American soldiers

The White Hawk (II): Loyalty

by David Pilling

“A Warwick! A Warwick!”

England, 1470. The Earl of Warwick has fled England and the wrath of his former friend, King Edward of York. Barred from entering Calais, he turns to piracy and attacking merchant ships in the Channel.

The surviving members of the Bolton family have also fled their homes in England. Landless and condemned as traitors, they follow Warwick to France and the court of Margaret of Anjou, who has lived in exile since the destruction of the Lancastrian army at Towton. Desperate to regain power, Warwick sends James Bolton with a message to Margaret, his old enemy, offering to forge an alliance with her and overthrow King Edward. Together they plan to restore the mad Henry VI, who has been a prisoner for ten years in the Tower of London.

Warwick gathers a new army from the surviving Lancastrian nobles, and begins to assemble an invasion fleet. King Edward must keep one eye on this threat, while also coping with fresh rumours of conspiracy and rebellion in the north. The peace in England is once again shattered as the war-drums beat and the banners unfurl for the final death-struggle between the rival Houses of Lancaster and York.

Part III of The White Hawk chronicles the further adventures of the Boltons, caught up in a conflict not of their own making, and forced to play their part by powers beyond their control.

The White Hawk (II): Loyalty is a new edition, previously published as The White Hawk (III): Restoration.

The White Hawk (III): Survival

by David Pilling

The dynastic wars are over. The House of York reigns supreme after the shattering victories of Barnet and Tewkesbury, and King Edward IV can look forward to a long and happy reign.

For Lancastrian loyalists such as the Boltons, there is no peace or happiness. James is a prisoner in the Tower, and has been for the past twelve years. His brother Martin is a mercenary fighting for the King of Hungary. Elizabeth, their niece, lives under a false name as a prostitute in the stews of Southwark.

Everything changes when King Edward dies unexpectedly, leaving his crown to an underage boy. The young Edward V is controlled by the Woodvilles, his mother’s relatives, who seek to use him as their puppet. Edward’s uncle, Richard, Duke of Gloucester, is named as Lord Protector. Suspicious of the Woodvilles, Gloucester takes drastic action to protect himself and seize the person of his nephew.

Across the Channel, the few surviving Lancastrians sniff an opportunity to restore their fortunes. Their last hope is Henry Tudor, the exiled Earl of Richmond, who possesses a faint claim to the throne. While the House of York threatens to tear itself apart, Richmond slowly gathers allies and plans to invade England. From the cold ashes of defeat, the Boltons are handed an opportunity to redeem their fortunes. Victory or death awaits as they fight like never before to claw back what was lost.

The White Hawk (III) Survival is the third and last instalment of David Pilling’s series set during The Wars of the Roses. It also includes THE DEVIL’S DUE, a new short story that introduces a later generation of Boltons in the English Civil War.

For The Fatherland

by Adam Wate

Franz Schmidt had always been different to other African soldiers in German East Africa at the outbreak of the First World War. He earned respect from his German Officers; he married a German girl (Winifred) and was looked up to by everyone who knew him. His unshakeable belief in his Christian morality and the righteousness of Germany drove him onto a unique path. Challenging a white officer Lieutenant Von Schillen and then becoming one himself through his exploits at the Battle of Tanga. He thought he was the future, he had the backing of General Lettow-Vorbeck, and the love of his family Winifred, son Josef and Father Schmidt. With victory, he showcased to the enemy that his masters would be the progressive victors in this war. The dream of a new generation of Askari becoming officers did pass, but he would not see it. Injured in battle, he was sent to an obscure hospital where his mind and his body failed him again and again. Resolved to mediocrity, he changed. When he recovered, he had none of the flair or confidence of before. His family and friends were distant, and when the war was lost, they were all banished to Germany, only to find themselves in another warzone. It was German vs German in a bitter and horrific struggle for the city of Munich. Short of manpower, Franz was ordered to lead Freikorps soldiers against the communists. But the atrocities committed and the age of the victims made him question his allegiances. When he encounters Clara, his world is radically changed. Forsaking his orders to execute all prisoners, he lets her get away, and promptly gets discharged. Now without a position, he makes his way in a city and country that looks at him with unease and wonder. With his values drifting further away from his family, he must discover for himself what is right. On this path he sees in its entirety the brutality that is a way of life for everyone around him. He sees the victims, the perpetrators and the cycle of deadly political grievances will never end. When alarm is raised about the safety of his son, he must do what he can to prevent him from falling into such a devastating trap. The path to Nazism was a clear and attractive one for many in 1919, but it is also one that is lethal for those that stray and oppose. He must decide what relationships and values mean the most, and which are even real and to be trusted. For The Fatherland is a tragic tale of loyalty, morality, racism and nationalism that would be almost impossible to reconcile.

World War III: The war that will never happen if America remains Strong and Alert

by Manikandan Govindan

World War III (WWIII or WW3) and the Third World War are names given to a hypothetical third worldwide large-scale military conflict subsequent to World War I and World War II. The term has been in use since at least as early as 1941. Some have applied it loosely to refer to limited or smaller conflicts such as the Cold War or the War on Terror, while others assumed that such a conflict would surpass prior world wars both in its scope and its destructive impact.Because of the development and use of nuclear weapons near the end of World War II and their subsequent acquisition and deployment by many countries, the potential risk of a nuclear devastation of Earth's civilization and life is a common theme in speculations about a Third World War. Another major concern is that biological warfare could cause a very large number of casualties, either intentionally or inadvertently by an accidental release of a biological agent, the unexpected mutation of an agent, or its adaptation to other species after use. High-scale apocalyptic events like these, caused by advanced technology used for destruction, could potentially make the Earth's surface uninhabitable.Prior to the beginning of the Second World War, the First World War (1914–1918) was believed to have been "the war to end all wars," as it was popularly believed that never again could there possibly be a global conflict of such magnitude. During the interwar period, WWI was typically referred to simply as "The Great War." The outbreak of World War II in 1939 disproved the hope that mankind might have already "outgrown" the need for such widespread global wars. With the advent of the Cold War in 1945 and with the spread of nuclear weapons technology to the Soviet Union, the possibility of a third global conflict became more plausible. During the Cold War years, the possibility of a Third World War was anticipated and planned for by military and civil authorities in many countries. Scenarios ranged from conventional warfare to limited or total nuclear warfare. At the height of the Cold War, a scenario referred to as Mutually Assured Destruction ("MAD") had been calculated which determined that an all-out nuclear confrontation would most certainly destroy all or nearly all human life on the planet. The potential absolute destruction of the human race may have contributed to the ability of both American and Soviet leaders to avoid such a scenario.

New World Order Rising Book 4: United Nations Arriving (Islam Joins the Fight)

by James W. Nelson

Earth, our planet, is spinning normally on her axis, but conditions on her surface are spinning rapidly out-of-control. The Illuminati, masters of the new world order, globalism, open borders, uncontrolled people migration, and a one-world government, have linked with the Islamic-run UN and the plan of Agenda 21.
Officially Agenda 21 means saving the environment and everybody living happily ever after.
Unofficially Agenda 21 means elimination of 85% of the world's population, leaving just enough human slaves to care for the elite in their gated communities.
The continent of Africa—with the exception of Angola—is on fire. Western Europe is gone. Eastern Europe and Russia are near disintegrating. China, India, Japan, and Australia are holding on, for now. Latin America closed her borders early but are in jitters watching the two nations still somewhat in charge—America and Canada, but especially the five-state coalition of Free America, North and South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming, smack dab in the center of the North American continent.
A good central location for all red-blooded patriotic Americans and Canadians to run to with their families to join the freedom fighters, to help save the last stronghold of freedom in the world.
The elitists know America—with her Second Amendment—has to be brought down first and entirely, hence the unleashing of the UN's Blue Helmets and Islam's best fighters, both groups made promises to, but in the end are simply expendable pawns.
****
Jocelyn, introduced in Book 1 as a seven-year-old, ten years later has grown into a warrior leading a North Dakota militia, helping to repel everything the elitist Illuminati can throw against the five-state coalition of Free America.
****
Seventeen-year-old Jocelyn, now leader of a North Dakota militia (part of the 5-state coalition of Free America) had allowed herself to believe—to hope—that the recent battles won over the UN Blue Helmets would maybe be the end of it, and she had thought sure all the super soldiers were dead. There had been none—or very few—when they hit the UN the second time. And the Muslims were dead, at least the ones they knew about.
What would they do? What could they do? What was to become of them? Were they now just to become killing machines? Would they cross the border wherever the enemy was, and kill them?
She was tired, tired of running, tired of giving orders, tired of killing. She thought of her dear departed, adopted Grandpa Carter—oh, Grandpa, I wish you were here, I miss you so much! Tears wanted badly to come...but she could hold them.
It was not over, she knew that. The UN would have a nearly endless supply of soldiers.
She thought of what she had whispered to that tiny child her adopted mom had just given birth to...just born and getting the most important job in the world dumped on her...but I'm really afraid, little girl, that it might just become up to you...to save the world.
